Cooxupé business fair expects more than 30 thousand coffee growers in the South of Minas Gerais
Organized by the coffee cooperative, Femagri 2024 is aligned with global requirements and will present sustainable actions for rural properties.
More than 30 thousand coffee growers from the south and cerrado of Minas Gerais, from the middle of the state of São Paulo and from the Matas de Minas will meet in search of sustainable solutions and actions for coffee crops, during Femagri 2024 – Fair of Agricultural Machinery, Implements and Inputs, organized by the coffee cooperative Cooxupé, in Guaxupé (MG), from March 20 to 22. The expectation of the public, according to the organization, should be confirmed by the fact that the cooperative families are looking for solid alternatives to further increase sustainability within the properties, as well as leverage productivity.
"Femagri is aligned with the demands of the global market and with an eye on the future, so this year brings the theme 'Cooperativism: building the sustainable future of generations'. The focus is on the sustainability of coffee production to show cooperative members the importance of commitment to environmental, social and economic agendas", highlights the president of Cooxupé, Carlos Augusto Rodrigues de Melo.
The search for sustainable solutions will take place in an area of 107 thousand square meters, with the presence of 120 exhibitors, in addition to Cooxupé's own spaces such as the traditional Fazendinha (a barn of sustainable guidelines and alternatives for coffee culture) and the Generations Protocol. This is the sustainability pact developed by the cooperative, in partnership with SCS Global Service, to show and guide the cooperative families how to comply with the requirements of the protocol and raise the levels of sustainability on their properties, for the supply of environmentally and ethically sustainable coffee to the global market.
"Sustainability is of great global relevance and producers need to be aware of this indispensable reality for coffee growing. ESG practices are naturally linked to our activities, but we are always bringing news and knowledge to the cooperative members for an increasingly efficient production in terms of technology, machinery and implements", explains president Carlos Augusto.
"Neutral Seal" for the second year in a row
Committed to carbon neutrality, Femagri has, for the second consecutive year, the "Neutral Event" seal. The certification, granted by Eccaplan, comes for offsetting greenhouse gas emissions during the operations generated at the fair. The voluntary programme consists of quantifying greenhouse gas emissions that cannot be avoided and which, in the same proportion, are subject to environmental compensation.
